J Boutin Crozes Hermitage 'Les Hauts Granite' 2023

J Boutin Crozes Hermitage 'Les Hauts Granite' 2023

Located in the northern Rhône Valley, J Boutin is a boutique producer founded by geologist-turned-winemaker Emmanuel Darnaud. His passion for terroir is reflected in his small-lot wines that emphasise purity, precision, and a clear sense of place. The 'Les Hauts Granite' bottling comes from vineyards rooted in granite soils, reflecting the mineral intensity of the region’s hillside parcels.

Wine Description

This 100% Syrah displays a deep ruby colour with vibrant violet reflections. On the nose, it offers a striking mix of blackberries, black pepper, crushed stones, and a subtle floral lift. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with silky tannins and fresh acidity framing flavours of dark fruits, smoked meat, and a savoury, mineral edge. The finish is long and focused, delivering finesse and balance. While drinking beautifully now, it will continue to evolve over the next 5–7 years. The wine is not certified organic but is produced with sustainable practices and minimal intervention, preserving its authentic character.

Food Pairing

Pair this refined Syrah with grilled lamb chops, pepper-crusted duck breast, or mushroom risotto. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
