Greywacke Chardonnay 2022

Greywacke Chardonnay 2022

Greywacke, established by renowned winemaker Kevin Judd in 2009, is a family-owned winery located in Marlborough, New Zealand. After serving as the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 vintages, Judd embarked on his own venture, naming it after New Zealand's prevalent bedrock, greywacke. The winery is celebrated for its commitment to producing wines that authentically express Marlborough's unique terroir.

Wine Description
The 2022 Greywacke Chardonnay presents a pale golden hue. On the nose, it offers enticing aromas of brown sugar and vanilla custard, intertwined with bright citrus notes reminiscent of homemade lemon curd. The palate is layered with ripe golden peaches and caramelised figs, driven by a seam of flinty minerality. An earthy richness evokes thoughts of freshly cut hay, roasted nuts, and faint whiffs of wood smoke. This wine boasts a tight structure and excellent ageing potential, making it enjoyable now and over the next 5–7 years.
Food Pairing
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with dishes such as roasted chicken with herbs, grilled salmon, or a creamy mushroom risotto. For a cheese pairing, consider aged cheddar or a soft brie. These combinations enhance the wine's depth and character, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
