Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2021 - 1.5 Litre Bottle

Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2021 - 1.5 Litre Bottle

Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2021 is a distinguished red wine from the Montalcino subregion of Tuscany, Italy. Pieve Santa Restituta serves as the Gaja family's historic estate in Montalcino, marking their first venture outside of Piedmont when it was acquired in 1994. The property is named after the 'Pieve' (parish church) on-site that dates back to 462 AD, and the family’s winemaking philosophy focuses on capturing the precision and excellence of the Sangiovese grape within this unique high-altitude terroir.

Wine Description

This 100% Sangiovese displays a deep ruby red colour with silver highlights. The aromatic profile is highly expressive, featuring a bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries, and sweet violets, alongside complex layers of earth, tamarind, and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and sleek, showcasing a dense mid-palate with velvety, powerful tannins and cool-toned acidity. Stylistically, it is refined and balanced, offering a long, chewy finish with lingering notes of licorice, graphite, and sour cherry. While it is drinkable now, its structural power makes it ideal for cellaring, with an optimal drinking window beginning in 2027 and extending through 2036 or beyond.
