Cornelissen Monjebel Rosso 2021

Cornelissen Monjebel Rosso 2021

Frank Cornelissen founded his estate on Mount Etna in 2001 with a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the volcano’s unique terroir to fully express itself. His vineyards, many planted with old vines, are cultivated organically and often biodynamically, producing wines of striking purity and energy.

Wine Description

Munjebel Rosso is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grown in multiple parcels across Etna’s northern slopes, including Zottorinoto-Chiusa Spagnolo, Feudo di Mezzo-Porcaria, Rampante sottana, Piano Daini, and Crasà. In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby hue. Aromas of red berries, wild strawberries, dried herbs, rose petals, and subtle volcanic minerality rise from the nose. The palate is lively and textured, offering crunchy red fruit, blood orange, spice, and hints of savoury brine.

Food Pairing

Ideal with roasted lamb, grilled pork, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
