Only exceptional vintages of Selección are produced, and the quantity produced varies according to the characteristics of each vintage. A favourite among critics, the wine is the consequence of a careful selection of the family's oldest vines, which were established in areas with poorer soil and better drainage, such as hillsides and higher elevations. Fruit produced under these circumstances has higher quality and lower yields.

Selección Especial is vinified similarly to the company's flagship Reserva bottle, but it undergoes more rigorous family selection, lengthier ageing, and better wood treatment. It's a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache, 7% Mazuelo, and 3% Graciano.
